Bought this to replace PSU on a Dell E510 (which sucks) and it is doing a great job this far.It has power connections for both SATA and IDE so that is a plusI have a pretty basic set up so 430 Watts was plentyNot bad
The Antec EarthWatts 430W power supply is the most quiet power supply I have ever seen - or heard in that matter - as it is perfectly silent. This unit provides a decent amount of power, and it is extremely efficient. The cables are somewhat messy to work with, but installing it inside your computer is a piece of cake.
Working fine but the instructions could have been a little more thorough. My Dell 4600 uses a 20pin connection so I broke off the 4pin and mistakenly thought it went to the 4pin connection on the other side of the board. I cut the nice/neat loom and pulled the 4pin over to find it didn't fit, spliced on my old plug and the pc didn't start. Then I found the proper 4pin(two yellow, two black) tied up with the pci-e plug I didn't need. Plugged it in and pc started up fine, so I guess I didn't hurt anything. Should now have plenty of power for the AIW tuner card, TV Wonder, SoundBlaster and the Q-see DVR card. Every slots full on the old Dell now. Don't know why the video card fan quieted down unless it just liked the power boost, it's quit sounding like a coffee grinder. Alls well that ends well I guess.
Although it arrived with no visible damage, the power supply did not work when I installed it in a working desktop. I finally opened it up and found that the internal circuit board was broken, either because a blow or manufacturing defect. Since I was in a foreign country and could not ship the item back for replacement, I ended up tossing it in the trash.Because of this and other similar experiences, I am purchasing more items from retailers who have a storefront and physical presence. I may pay a little more, but I can return a defective item for replacement with no hassle, shipping charges, or long wait, and this is worth the extra money I might spend.
